Job search magic's for job seekers

Their website is incredibly similar to Convergys as my previous post (maybe using the same CMS)?

Similarly to Convergys, they have obliged me to email via a webform create an account as I wanted to contact them and provided a reference number and ensured that they will reply within the net business day.

But, unlike Convergys, they offer job opportunities to the USA residents only.

Let’s wait for their reply.

UPDATE: They have answered in record time. See my other post.

Even better at Working solutions. Their F.A.Q. states:

Do you hire Agents who reside outside of the United States?

Yes, we are able to contract with individuals from anywhere in the world; however, many call center projects are limited to US residents due to telecommunications expenses.

Of course, I will apply. Let’s see what happens.

No email to them. I might be writing when/if they refuse my candidature. ;-)

Some spring cleaning: I have cleaned the broken links (boys are jobsites short lived) and created a new page which summarizes in a single table companies which hire at-home workers.

Whow, I was almost giving up my hopes: Convergys is the first company which accepts contractors outside the USA.

Sadly just in the United Kingdom and in a province of Canada (Nova Scotia).

From their Employment Eligibility page:

In what US states does Convergys currently hire Home Agents?

Convergys is currently filling Home Agent positions in the following states: Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

In what UK locations does Convergys currently hire Home Agents?

Convergys is currently filling UK Home Agent positions throughout the United Kingdom.

In what Canadian locations does Convergys currently hire Home Agents?

Convergys is currently filling Canadian Home Agent positions in Nova Scotia.

As usual, I wrote them to know whether  they can refer me to other companies. Let’s see…

UPDATE: The bad news is that I have been obliged to use a webform and to create an account as I wanted to contact them (too bad); the good news that they have given me a reference number and ensured that:

You should receive a response by email from our support department within the next business day

Well, let’s see if they honour their aims.

With Alpine Access the story is a slightly different: as they hire you as employee, then:

Q: Do I have to be a U.S. citizen?

A: No. If you can provide legal documentation proving you are eligible for employment in the U.S., you may apply. Please note that Alpine Access participates in E-Verify and work eligibility status is confirmed through the Social Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

Of course you need to show eligibility for employment in the USA. In other words, you need to show the notorious green card, if I have well understood.

Funny also that they state: “you may apply”…or not according to their liking.  :-D

Wikipedia tells me the conditions through which I can obtain a green card (or permanent resident status):

U.S. immigration legislation in the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) stipulates that a person may obtain permanent resident status primarily through the course of the following proceedings:[6]

  • immigration through a family member
  • immigration through employment
  • immigration through investment
  • immigration through the Diversity Lottery
  • immigration through Refugee or Asylum status
  • immigration through “The Registry” provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act

So, if I have well understood, Alpine Access doesn’t want to be the first who gives you employment in the USA but I have written them asking confirmation of this.

As usual – I have taken the opportunity to also ask if they can refer to another agency which hires people who are NOT eligible for employment in the USA. Never say never.

Keep you posted!

New look

Ok. Done.

Well, we really needed a new look:  as we approach a new experimental  research (the hire-me series) we thought we had to adapt the look for the occasion.

We are still tweaking the old pages (a dead link check was due too), and several old posts have been disabled (maybe temporarily, maybe not).

In the next few days, we are going to make some more changes. Stay tuned.

For the time being, enjoy the renewed website and send you comments, if you like.

No better luck at VIPdesk. The only difference with LiveOps is that here customer service agents are called Brand Ambassadors, instead (what?!?). :-D

From their F.A.Q.:

Do you contract with Brand Ambassadors residing outside of the United States?
A. We do not currently accept applicants from or contract with Brand Ambassadors who reside outside of the United States.

I also wrote them inquiring about companies which accept non-USA residents (via a webform as they do not provide any email address).

Let’s see what/if they answer me.

PS I don’t like webforms as – if the recipient chooses not to send the sender an acknowledge of reception – as it is in this case – you have no evidence of having sent your message. Not that relevant as you would never bring them to court for not having replied you, but important enough for their reputation in the market.

Anyhow, long story short, there is a trick: save the html page resulting from your message sent (normally a thank you page or a notification page) on your hard disk or blog like this: Contact Us :-P

Yes, (remote) customer support is one of the known workable-from-home jobs.

Liveops is one of the companies I have been recommended to check which offers legit work from home opportunities.

My attempt to apply for a position of agent is short lived. They have a F.A.Q. page (which is not that easy to find) which specifically states:

Q: Do I have to be a legal resident of the United States?
A: Yes.

Well, fair enough.

I have written them an email asking if they know/can recommend other companies (in USA or anywhere) which offer work from home customer support  opportunities to individuals living outside the United States.

I’ll keep you posted if/when they reply.

Ok. I’m going to do something which I meant to do for a long time.

My online presence on this site has always meant to help others to find jobs. Work-from-home jobs, especially.

Now, since the year 2000, when I started, a few books, websites and other publications have been published which list work from home opportunities (in the USA only, unfortunately, but this is another story) in legit companies – I will also talk about these (companies and publications) in a future post.

What I meant to do. now, is taking on a new challenge: I am going to apply for work-from-home positions in recommended by the above publications and journal the outcome here.

For the record,  not necessarily, I apply for jobs I specifically want or am qualified for: my goal is checking out what would be there for anyone who would want and is qualified for a specific job.

I guess that living in Europe will not make my task any easier, instead! but, anyhow, let’s see: If I don’t try, nobody will ever know for sure!
